John Kirkwood
January 2, 1934 — October 13, 2012
John W. Kirkwood, age 78, passed away at Baptist East Hospital on October 13, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was a retired detective for the city of Louisville with over twenty years of service. He served during the Korean War as an Army Sergeant.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven plus years, Ruby I Kirkwood; his two daughters; Ruby E Drury and Susan J Kirkwood. Four grandchildren, Nicholas F Drury, Dana E Drury, Allison I Dziedzic, Katherine A (William) Edwards. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; Stephanie, Jacob, Nicholas, Landon, Elijah. He is also survived by two sisters; Jean and Jane and a sister-in-law Aileen, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday October 15, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Ky 40243 502-245-0095.
Service is Tuesday, October 16,2012 at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home.
