John H. Ballard
John H. Ballard, 79, of New Albany passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011. John retired from General Electric after 37 years of service to the company.
John was born on April 15, 1931 in Utica, Indiana to the late Hiram and Emma (Richards) Ballard. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Froedge, Rosie Doss, Mary Turner, and Dorothy Montgomery, brothers, Frank, Willie, and Tom Ballard.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Catherine (Ulmer) Ballard; daughters, Vicki Pelfrey and her husband, Phil, of Urbana, Illinois, Johnnie K. Riley and her husband, Richard, Joy Ballard, and Linda Popp and her husband, Chris, all of New Albany; grandchildren, Sarah Parker and her husband, Sean, Caleb and Colten Popp; great-grandchild, Kaelynn Parker.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday, February 8 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) and after 10 AM on Wednesday. His Funeral Service will be at 11 AM on Wednesday in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
