John F. Mathis

John F. Mathis, 84, passed away on February 26, 2014. John was born on February 15, 1930 to the late Charles F. Mathis and Lelabelle Kinney-Priddy.
John served in the Army during during the Korean War, and retired as a Sergant Major after 39 years of service. John was a very loving and giving man, he was proud of being in the military but most of all he was proud of his family.
Mr. Mathis is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ada Mathis.
He is survived by his step children; Gloria J. Haveman, William D. Breland (Pat), Allan D. Breland (Lynda) and Roger D. Breland; eight grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren. A Funeral Service to honor the life of John F. Mathis will be at 10am on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home-Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville Ky, 40207, with burial to follow in Beth Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 28, 2014 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
