John Wayne Ethridge, of Louisville, entered his eternal home on December 20, 2022. John was born on March 19, 1956 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late H.W. "Bob" and Geraldine "Geri" Ethridge. After graduating from Jeffersontown High School, John attended Georgetown College and then joined a family-owned wholesale business, Dixie Specialty Co., where he was a buyer and top salesman. John loved sports and was a track star at Jeffersontown where he set several records. A die-hard UK fan, John especially loved attending Kentucky home football games. Another great joy for John was horseracing and he was an excellent handicapper. He loved fishing and time on the lake with family. John dearly loved his family and friends.
He was funny, out-going and an A+ prankster. He loved each of his several dogs and most especially Jimmer. His greatest love was his daughter, Sophia Rose, who calls him "the best Dad ever!" John took great comfort in knowing that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior and that God loved him just as he was. John was a kind, big-hearted person who gave the best bear hugs ever and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved brother, Daniel Robert.
Left to cherish John's memory is his daughter, Sophia Rose; sister, Susan Eiche (Pete); nephew , Jason Eiche (Molly); niece, Jennifer Moore (Brian); great nephews, Luke Eiche and Maddox Moore and great nieces, Lilly and Lola Eiche and Hayden Moore; and a host of family and friends.
