John Nelson "Ed" Edmonds, 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on May 18, 2022. He was born to the late Nelson & Maxine Edmonds and was raised alongside three siblings. Ed served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War and acted as a mechanic, working on helicopters. He later retired from Ford as an inspector.
Ed and Gladys (Bishop) were married on June 3, 1955, and together they raised six children. In his spare time, he enjoyed refurbishing antique and old cars as well as model trains. He loved to listen to country music, specifically Hank Snow.
Ed is preceded by his parents; his son Kenneth Edmonds; his sister, Patricia Edmonds, and his brother, Peter Edmonds. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Gladys Edmonds; his children, Edward Edmonds, Maxine (Robert) Staley, Liz Edmonds, Julie (Michael) Ench, & Michael Edmonds; his grandchildren, Scott (Cassie) Staley, Bryan (Cassie) Staley, Lily Ench, & Amber; his great-grandchildren, Austin Staley, Cole Staley, Lincoln Staley, Christopher Staley, Jeremiah Staley, Johnny Sachleben, Jacoby Sachleben, Devyn, & Dreyken, as well as his sister, Elizabeth Edmonds.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243) with additional visiting hours on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (13800 Aiken Road, Louisville, KY 40245) from 10:00am – 11:00am with service to follow beginning at 11:00am.
