John E. Bobbitt, 74, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Saturday morning, November 20, 2010 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was retired but had previously worked for over 15 years as a salesman at Montgomery Chevrolet and John Jones GMC. As a kid he enjoyed working in the garden of the family farm. Due to the loss of his eye sight in his latter years of his life, John enjoyed listening to audio books and magazines. He was a wealth of information.
He was born on October 24, 1936 on the family farm in Greenville to the late Edward R. and Louisa (Rush) Bobbitt. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Jane (Bullington) Bobbitt and Priscilla "Pat" (Fuqua) Bobbitt; daughter, Beth Ann Bobbitt; siblings, Elenor McFarland, Sylvia Pamplen, Avis Lesler, Lelah Curtis, Harold Bobbitt; and grandson, Jason Bobbitt.
John is survived by his grandson, Paul E. Bobbitt of New Albany, Indiana; sisters, Margaret Duvall of Florida, Grace Click of Sellersburg, Indiana, Jeanette Pearcy of Indianapolis, Indiana; step-brother, Carl Sears of New Albany; and several nieces and nephews.
His visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). The Funeral Service will be 10 AM on Tuesday, November 23 in the Paul F. Kraft, Sr. Memorial Chapel at the funeral home with private burial to take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenville.
