John Duke

March 12, 1934 — April 19, 2012

John B. Duke, 78, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, formerly of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012. He was a member of Chapel Hill Christian Church in Floyds Knobs. John was an excellent woodworker who spent almost 40 years of employment with Hoosier Panel in New Albany. He was also a former employee at Koetter Woodworking in Starlight. John's true passion was working in the yard, gardening, and tending to his flowers.

John was born on March 12, 1934 in Valeene, Indiana to the late Elmer and Mattie "Bea" (Lacey) Duke. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Margie A. (Barber) Duke; children, Natalie N. Eberle, Gwendolin G. "Figsy" Milam (Bernie), Vallen Duke, Vonya Gresham (Lonnie), Dee Eberle (John); step-children, Jerry Smith, Lamar Seacat (Jan), Sherry Fabel (Ron), Tracy Johnson (Roy); sister, Thelma Barnett; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen following John's wishes. A Memorial Visitation will be from 1 PM to 3 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2011 at Chapel Hill Christian Church (6940 Chapel Hill Road, Borden) with a Memorial Service taking place at 3 PM. Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) is handling the arrangements.
