John Fredrick Doughty

June 21, 1944 — April 15, 2024

John Fredrick Doughty, 79, of New Albany, Indiana, died on April 15, 2024, at Norton Pavilion surrounded by his loving family. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, (Carolyn) Sue Doughty; brother, Stephen C. Doughty (Anne); niece, Lauren McDonald (Josh); nephew, Josh Doughty; grand-nieces, Elaina, Elise, and Nora McDonald; lots of cousins; and many long-time loving friends. He is the son of the late Fredrick R. Doughty and Jane Draper Doughty.


John was a 1962 graduate of New Albany High School, attended Evansville University, and was a graduate of Indiana University Southeast. He was a long-time employee of the Louisville Trust Company, and an accountant for both ENRO Shirt Company and Thrifty Car Rental. After retirement, he enjoyed many years of volunteering for Jewish Hospital and Frazier Rehab, as well as working at health fairs for Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates and the Lung Cancer Alliance of Kentucky.


He was a one of a kind gentleman and loved by those who were fortunate enough to be in his circle, especially the Greenaway Beer Garden buds.


A gathering to honor John's life will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN).
