John William Deaver, Jr.

John William Deaver, Jr., 84, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. He was a Mason and member of Elks Lodge #217 and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. John was an avid fan of horse racing and enjoyed gardening, sailing, and birdwatching. He liked taking trips to Florida and spending time with his family and friends and was fond of his rescue dogs, Keeland and Finn.
He was born on November 2, 1938, in Covington, Kentucky, to John and Catherine (Schultz) Deaver. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen; and stepson, Ron Knasel.
John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rowena Knasel; children, Andrea Deaver (Mark Carroll), John Deaver III (Kelly), Robert Deaver, Sr. (Terrie), and Natasha Finn (Jeremy); stepsons, Don Knasel (Shirley) and John Knasel (Sharon); grandchildren, Robert Deaver, Jr., Evan Deaver (Yoana), and Ava, Sophia, and Grace Finn; and great-grandchildren, Michael and Scarlett Deaver.
John's wish was to be cremated, and a memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Contributions in John's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
