John Clifton Chatman, age 63, passed away on April 4, 2024, in Louisville, KY.
John "J.C.", was born on October 6, 1960, in Fort Worth Texas, to Jimmie Thomas and Barbara Ann (Beckett) Chatman. He was the middle child. The family moved to Abilene Texas in 1966 where he grew up. He attended Jane Long Elementary, Mann Jr. High and Abilene High School.
John was a Boy Scout and a Sea Scout. Growing up he enjoyed fishing, camping trips with his family.
On February 9, 2011, he took on his best role in life when he became a father to Alexandria (Alex) Danielle Chatman. She was his pride and joy. He enjoyed shooting his guns, riding horses and softball with Alex. He was excited to see her play her first softball game this spring. John was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, KY.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Thomas and Barbara Ann (Beckett) Chatman, and his brother, Mark Thomas Chatman.
He is survived by his daughter Alex Chatman of Pendleton, KY; his sister, Melanie Heslep (husband Gary) of Abilene, Texas. His nephews; Jeffrey Heslep (wife Jaimie) of Round Rock, Texas, and Ryan Heslep (wife Heidi) of Abilene, Texas; as well as 4 great-nephews, Harris, Ethan, Holt and Hank Heslep. He also survived by his aunts and numerous cousins.
A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
