John William Chasteen, age 83 of Versailles, KY entered fully into the presence of the Lord on April 11, 2024. He was a man known for his faith and we rejoice that he is whole, healed and at peace.
As a young man John entered into the Air Force with a passion to serve his country while seeking to fulfill his love for flying and was honorably discharged.
He was a gifted and brilliant mechanic in his time here on Earth. He loved to build and fly model airplanes. He had a ferocious sweet tooth, loved to laugh ,and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
John is survived by his daughters, Kathy Humphries (Travis) and Tracy Evans (Tate) and Christy McIntosh; son, Bill Chasteen; sister, Mary Katherine Woodrum; grandchcildren, Angie Carter, Natesha Clemons, Christine Goforth, Lily Chasteen, Kayla Dotson (Aaron), Josh Humphries, Jacob Humphries, Lauren Heath (Thomas), Tatum Evans, Landon Evans, Britany McIntosh and Colton McIntosh; great-grandchildren, Shayla Clemons, Wessann Clemons, Nikolas Shepherd, Rezner Goforth, Elijah Dotson, Sawyer Heath, Claire Heath, Aiden Neal, Meleaha Neal, Aria Saunders and Kayden Saunders; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 9am to 11am on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of John's life will be held at the funeral home at 11am, with burial to follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
John's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
