John B. Bruce Jr.

John B. Bruce Jr., 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His family meant everything to him and he loved every minute he got to spend with them. He was a carpenter for UofL for 43 years. He loved working with his hands and could fix anything you needed. He loved to hunt, fish, ride his motorcycle, work in his garden, and was an avid fan of NASCAR. John will truly be missed by anyone and everyone who had the honor and pleasure of knowing him.

He was born on January 19, 1936 in Louisville, Kentucky to John and Dolly (Arnold) Bruce. He is preceded in death by his father, John Beeler Bruce, Sr., mother, Dolly Bruce, daughter, Cathy Jo Bruce-Bishop, and 3 sisters.

John is survived by his loving Wife of 64 years, Margaret Louise Bruce; son, Roger Dale (Carrie) Bruce; grandsons, Nick Bishop, Colton Bruce, and Michael Bruce; great-grandchildren, Raylen Bishop, Brody Bruce, Cayden Bruce, and Elli Oolisk. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

The family requests that contributions in John's memory be made to St. Jude or the local Humane Society.
