John Michael Bostock, 42, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at home after an 8.5 year courageous battle with glioblastoma. John was born on March 31, 1981 to his parents Mary Lou Bostock Hurd (Doug) and Kent Bostock (Beth) in Terra Haute, IN.
John is survived by his wife, Jessica; and his 10 year old daughter, Olive; along with siblings, Zach (Angela, Isabella, Lyla and Mia), Julie Gibson (Sean, Crew & Will), Adam (Marci, Kylie & Grant); his paternal grandmother, Leona Bostock; as well as many extended family members and loving friends.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Paul Bostock; and maternal grandparents, Mary Cummings Silvers and J. Fred Silvers.
John graduated from Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, IN and attended Indiana University Southeast, in New Albany, IN. John worked at Humana before his diagnosis.
John was an avid sports fan and passionate about IU Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. He enjoyed traveling to Bloomington and Indianapolis to attend games with his friends. John's favorite pastime was playing golf with his buddies. His love for golf went beyond just the game as he enjoyed the time with family and friends, particularly the 19th hole!
John's greatest joy was his daughter, Olive. John made the best of his difficult diagnosis by being a stay-at-home Dad with Olive during his illness, a role he thoroughly loved and enjoyed. Some of John's most cherished moments were watching Olive play softball, volleyball and basketball. He loved assisting her teams with coaching.
John was instrumental with Jessica in starting, growing and renovating Wilder Hair Company over the past 4 years; an accomplishment he was extremely proud of.
John's kind heart and contagious smile made a significant impact on everyone that knew him. Although he will be missed by many, we are rejoicing knowing that he's celebrating with Jesus.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Northside Christian Church (4407 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN) in the West Auditorium. His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the church in the West Auditorium with doors opening at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
