John Wallace Allen

John Wallace “JW” Allen, 75, passed away on December 26, 2024, with his sons by his side. He was born April 11,1949 in Scottsburg, Indiana to John Allen and Doris (Rigsby) Allen Bigler. 

He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Gina) Allen of Sanford, NC, son Joseph (Gretchen) Allen of Stedman, NC, grandchildren Emma, Shelby, Avery and Logan, sisters Gloria Cullison and Glenda Buckner, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Stanley Allen.

After graduating from Scottsburg High School in 1967, he served in the National Guard before starting work at Cummins, retiring after 30+ years. In his spare time and retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with cars and electronics, and going cruising. In his final days, he was surrounded by his neighbors and family and supported by a wonderful hospice team.

John's wish was to be cremated, and Newcomer of New Albany was entrusted with his care. In lieu of services, the family hopes you will honor him by taking a drive on a nice day and enjoying a meal at a local diner. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
