JoAnne (Magness) Heuser, 85, of New Albany, Indiana, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 13, 2022. She was born on July 23, 1937, in New Albany to Albert and Mary (Morrison) Magness. JoAnne married Leon Heuser on January 1, 1956, and they were blessed with 63 years of marriage. She was a longtime member of Chapel Hill Christian Church.
She first worked at Emery's Ice Cream in high school, then became a switchboard operator at Anchor. JoAnne later became a teacher's aide at Silver Street School and retired as a special education aide at Mount Tabor School.
JoAnne enjoyed cooking, shopping, and going on trips with her family and friends. She was in a Bunco club for over 20 years and was a member of a social senior group called "The Golden Girls." JoAnne was an avid fan of the New Albany Bulldogs and Indiana Hoosiers. She was especially fond of her pets, Romeo and Maxie, and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Shari (Heuser) Carter; and her granddaughter whom she loved dearly, JoAnne "Jodi" Brough.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 11:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
