Our beloved Joanne Colby passed peacefully from this life into the very presence of her Lord Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the age of 68, surrounded by her family. Her battle with ALS revealed her tenacity, courage, grace, and most of all, her relentless faith in her Savior.
Joanne enjoyed many hobbies, including woodworking, crocheting, sewing, baking, and gardening. Through her photography, she found joy in capturing the beauty of God's creation.
Her favorite things to capture were the smiles of her family. She loved spending time with them in any way possible; she intentionally sought a connection with each of them.
Of all the things Joanne loved in her life, her love for her Savior was always the greatest. Through the lens of her faith, instead of a tiny bug, she saw resplendent colors and specific purpose; instead of a crying child, she saw a moment to nurture and impart wisdom; instead of a devastating disease, she saw a way to show God's magnificent glory and fathomless sovereignty.
Though we mourn her passing, we take comfort in the knowledge that Joanne has been called home to her Heavenly Father where she will dwell in eternal peace and joy. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite (McNerney) Colby, and father, Orrie Colby.
Joanne is survived by her loving family; daughters, Kristi (Eric) Gatzke, Kelly (Jared) Kempton, Katie (Philip) Heid, and Karee Milowicki; fourteen grandchildren; and six siblings.
A celebration of Joanne's life will be held at Sovereign Grace Church of Louisville on Saturday, May 11, at 3 o'clock.
