Joann Sutton

JoAnn (Carpenter) Sutton, 79, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Sunday morning, January 16, 2011 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. JoAnn retired from the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant in Charlestown. She was a member of the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Auxiliary.

JoAnn was born on October 1, 1931 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Archibald and Carrie (Akers) Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sutton and brother, Stanley Carpenter.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Daily and her husband Richard of New Albany, Indiana; son, David Sutton of New Albany, Indiana; granddaughter, Carrie Freiberger; grandson, Steven Daily and his wife Kelly; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Rita Shrader of Clarksville, and Norma Thornell of Indianapolis; and brother, Julian Carpenter of Oklahoma.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Tuesday, January 18 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150). The Funeral Service will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 19 in the Paul F. Kraft Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
