Joan Whitley

Joan Carol (Mueller) Whitley returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the age of 83. She was surrounded by the family she loved so much I’m sure she was greeted with eager anticipation by her husband, Donnie who she longed to see again.

During Joan‘s life she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart Donnie. They shortly welcomed the girls and began building their life together. Joan served and loved others very unselfishly. She and Don built a wonderful loving home. She loved serving as a cheer coach, a PTA leader, a room-mom and a Girl Scout leader. She was an active member of Southeast Christian church for over 40 years and served alongside her husband in many roles. The most important part of her life was her devotion to her faith, and because of that she leaves a legacy through her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joan is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Donald Ray Whitley; her parents, Theodore Rudolph Mueller and Ruth Atkins Mueller; her sister-in-law, Barbara Mueller; and her nephew, Robert Eugene Mueller. 

Joan is survived by her daughters, Tammy Holbrook (Jeff) and Beth Barton (Todd);  six grandchildren, Taylor (Tara) Barton, Whitley (Matt) Lehman, and Gunnar, Max, Issi, and Tate Holbrook; great-grandsons, Ryman and Lennox Barton and Haynes, Huxley, and Miller Lehman; her brothers, Theodore Eugene Mueller and Donald Keith Mueller (Gigi); and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Chapel in the Woods (1407 Moser Rd, Louisville, KY 40299). 

Visitation will also be on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm/Noon at Chapel in the Woods (1407 Moser Road Louisville, KY 40299) with burial to follow at Floydsburg Cemetery (5600 Old Floydsburg Road Crestwood, KY 40014).
