Joan (Gettelfinger) Marguet

Joan (Gettelfinger) Marguet, 86, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. She was a devout Catholic and active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Joan worked at GMAC and retired from Brown-Forman. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers, her grandchildren and her husband of 59 years.

She was born on January 6, 1937 in Ramsey, Indiana to Gerald and Mary (Kiesler) Gettelfinger. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her sisters, Antoinette "Nettie" Swank, Mary Ruth Ernstberger; and brother, Joseph "Fritz" Gettelfinger.

Joan is survived by her husband, Pat Marguet; daughter, Beth Weber (Jeff); sons, Dan Marguet (Missi), Charles Marguet (Carrie); siblings, Bishop Gerald Gettelfinger, Tony Gettelfinger (Judy), Agnes Ernstberger, Jean Batliner (Joe); brother-in-law, Mike Swank; sister-in-law, Helen Gettelfinger; grandchildren, Ian Weber (Hannah), Erin Barlow (Matt), Anna Weber, Abby Sester (Shane), Jacob Marguet (Sydney), Will Marguet, Kate Marguet; great-grandchildren, Hank and Leighton; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany). She will be laid to rest privately at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
