Joan Koch Breckel, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
She was born on October 4, 1938 in Louisville, KY to the late Charles Koch and Mary (Sheehan) Koch. Joan attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated in 1956. She married Joseph Breckel on September 13, 1958 in Louisville, KY and was married for 63 years. Joan and Joe moved the family to Frankfort, KY in 1962 and started Frankfort Glass Company. She was a dedicated mother managing the activities for all four children while enjoying travel, tennis and playing bridge with friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with family at the lakehouse playing games and enjoying boat rides. She was always the life of the party. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Breckel; and three sisters, Mary Ann Brewer, Dorothy Masterson, and Betty Freedman.
Joan is survived by her son, Mike (Gina) Breckel; daughter, Susan (Ron) West; son, Joseph (Sherry) Breckel; daughter, Anne (Ted) Frey; 6 grandchildren, Emily (Steve) McClenny, Ellen (Austin) Jones, Andrew Frey, Parker Frey, Allison Breckel , and Helen Breckel; great grandchildren, Riley McClenny, Harper McClenny, Sutton McClenny, Greyson Jones, and Colton; brother Charles Koch (Carolyn) ; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be 10 to 11am on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Chapel in the Woods 1407 Moser Rd, Louisville, KY 40299, with a celebration of Joan's life at 11am.
Private Entombment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
The family requests that contributions in Joan's memory be made to Missions at Southeast Christian Church.
