Jo Ann Herdt Weinberger, 81, passed away on December 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She graduated from Portland Christian High School and attended Winchester Bible College and IBM School. She was the editor of the Portland Christian Broadcaster and was a member of Girls' State. Jo Ann was head of the research department of Sears on Broadway, Assistant Supervisor in the computer section at Louisville Cement, Office Supervisor at Louisville Public Warehouse and a proud retiree of UPS Air Region. She was an avid crafter and won several blue ribbons at the Kentucky State Fair for her crochet and knitted blankets and baby items. Jo Ann was a wonderful cook and made the best BBQ brisket and potato salad you would ever taste. She was a dedicated mother and taught her own daughters and many neighborhood children to roller skate and jump rope. Jo Ann loved Elvis Presley and would still swoon over him. She will be remembered for these and many other things, but many will remember her for her great love of sweets.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Weinberger McLean Skaggs; mother, Theta Smithson Herdt Pipes; father, Edward Herdt; step-father, Chester Pipes and brothers, Edward and John Herdt.
Jo Ann leaves to cherish her memories, her best friend and husband of 60 years, Larry Weinberger; daughter, Jody Weinberger Densford; grandchildren, Jillian Densford, Abigail Densford, Coral McLean, Jade McLean and Logan McLean and great-grandsons, Matthew and Elijah Callahan.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 3pm-6pm with celebration of Jo Ann's life beginning at 6pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Portland Christian School, 8509 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40242, in Jo Ann's memory.
