Jimmie Bruce Berry

Jimmie Bruce Berry, Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 surrounded by his siblings at Baptist Health Hospital.

Bruce was born December 17, 1964 in Louisville, Kentucky to Jimmie Bruce, Sr. and Martha "Jeannie" (Peterson) Berry, who both preceded him in death. He accepted the Lord at a young age and was 58 years old when he went home to be with the Lord.

Bruce had a sharp mind and a good heart. He attended Pleasure Ridge Park High School and worked in maintenance and customer service until heath challenges interrupted his life's path. His personality was always lively, he loved to cut-up, and left many "remember the time" stories with friends who knew him and family members who helped care for him. He had an impressive memory and was always good with numbers, often reminding you of exactly how much you owed him. And yet, he was very giving and willing to help out anybody if he could. He often gave a little cash in a card to show how much he loved his nieces and nephews.

Bruce loved his family and would light up when he received surprise visits. He often asked how his aunts, uncles, and cousins were doing by name, with genuine concern for their well-being. And who can forget how much he enjoyed watching and talking about his Louisville Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys. Up until his health worsened, he had a good time going out to eat or to see a good action movie with his family.

Bruce was a good son, loving brother, proud uncle, and fun nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his older brother Mark Berry Sr;, younger sisters Regina (Ollie Jr.) Jackson and Angela (Richard Sr.) Wilson, younger brother Jeffrey Berry, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was always thankful for the love and family bond he shared with his brothers and sisters, and the extra care provided by our sister Angie.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions-Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
