Jerry Dale Wooten, age 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was a man of remarkable strength and character, who placed great value on family above all else. A devoted father and an incredible grandfather affectionately known as "Hucky" by his granddaughters. Jerry loved spending time with his granddaughters and cherished their special shopping adventures together.
A Vietnam veteran and proud U.S. Marine, Jerry also had a successful career as a truck driver. He was known for his kindness and support, earning the respect and admiration of many friends throughout his life. Jerry enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including Jameson Whiskey, cigars, horse racing, and the excitement of casino gambling. He had a deep love for taking trips to Florida with his family, creating treasured memories that will last a lifetime. Above all, he always put his family first.
Born on November 7, 1951, in New Albany, Indiana, Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Dale Wooten; his mother, Marjorie Pauline Moore; and his beloved grandmother "Mom", Pearl Opal Faith. He is survived by his loving family, including his sons, Jeremy Eugene (Amanda) Wooten and Shawn Dale (Holly) Wooten, Sr.; his grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Shawn Jr., Shane, and Stephen Wooten; his sisters, Teresa (Ricky Hogue) McCullough and Marilynn (Lynn) Rothwell; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Visitation for Jerry will be held from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 pm, with burial to take place at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky.
In honor of Jerry's memory, the family requests contributions be made online to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund at VVMF.org/Agent-Orange-Awareness-Day.
