Jerry Allen Ledford, 76, of Georgetown, Indiana, walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Jerry was born and raised in Somerset, Kentucky. He graduated from Somerset High School and went on to Eastern Kentucky University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and math. Jerry was a dedicated Deacon and teacher at his home-away-from-home, Georgetown Southern Baptist Church. There, he was known for not missing a Sunday in 68 years. Jerry was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, a gardener, and a knife collector. He retired after over 40 years with United Catalyst Incorporated. Most of all, Jerry loved spending time with family and grandchildren.
He was born on August 31, 1945, in Somerset, Kentucky, to Edwin and Geraldine (Dutton) Ledford. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Becky (Ledford) Eversman; brother-in-law, Owen Jones; mother- and father-in-law, James and Frances Kerr; niece, Jamie Ledford; and his nephew, Mark Ledford.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Brenda (Kerr) Ledford; children, Lori (George) Savage, Tammy (CJ) Jackson, and Greg Ledford; siblings, Edwin (Jane) Ledford, Sue Ledford, Richard (Judy) Ledford, Judy Jones, Michael (Jenny) Ledford, Charles (Linda) Ledford, David (Sharon) Ledford, Steve (Patty) Ledford, and Bo Ledford; and grandchildren, Emma (Jared) Bridges, Garrett (Carly) Savage, Drew Savage, Clay Jackson, and Cade Jackson. Jerry is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany), and on Saturday, May 28, 2022, after 9:00 a.m. at Georgetown Southern Baptist Church. His celebration of life will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday with burial to follow at Edwardsville Cemetery.
