Jerry Lee Bybee

November 26, 1943 — July 12, 2018

Jerry Lee Bybee, 74, of Louisville, Ky, went to be with his Lord on July 12, 2018. Jerry was born in Dearborn, Michigan, to Charles Edwin (Todd) Bybee and Maurice (Jones) Bybee on November 26, 1943. Judging from any number of stories that can't be repeated, his early years were filled with fun (often misguided), adventure (or more appropriately, misadventure), and all-round mischief and shenanigans, with siblings and friends, in and around Glasgow, KY.

That all changed when Jerry met Linda Lou Wright, with whom he quickly eloped to Tennessee with 25 dollars and Linda's former beau (who'd introduced the two), acting as Best Man. Married on November 13, 1963, their marriage endured nearly 55 years, through mostly good times, some rough times, but all times that strengthened their love and enduring bond.

Jerry was a life-long collector of sports cars (mostly Corvettes-because the Corvette IS the ONLY true American sports car), buying, selling (and often wrecking) one after another. His other passions were boating and skiing on Barren and Nolin Lakes, cursing at said boats when they broke down or deprived him of incredible sums of money, building decks, additions, randomly relocating and rebuilding staircases, walls and other structures in his houses, and responding to those closest to him with that "Jerry look" and the words "Are you crazy?"

Jerry worked many jobs during his life, often two or three at a time, ultimately retiring as a Maintenance Supervisor at General Electric after 34 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles and Joseph, and sister, Peggy.

Jerry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by Linda, his wife of 54 years, three children, Alan (Tracy), Angela (Brad), and Joseph, six grandchildren, Shelbi, Sean, Joshua, Christopher, Alex, and Emma, and sister Marty Bybee (Leslie).
He was not a man who verbally expressed his love, but all who were fortunate enough to love and be loved by him never doubted how he felt toward them.
