Jeraldine Marie Jewell, affectionately known as Jerri, was born on February 12, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky. With a heart full of love and a smile that could brighten the darkest of days, Jerri left this world on April 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy grounded in family, warmth, and cherished memories.
Jerri dedicated her career to Dolly Madison, where she retired in March 2002 after years of diligent service while proudly holding the loyalty of Teamsters Local 89. She approached her work with dedication, always believing in the value of hard work and community.
Beyond her professional life, Jerri's true pride and joy were her family. She relished in spending quality time with them, creating lasting memories that will forever echo in their hearts. Jerri had a gift for being candid while always bringing a smile, which endeared her to everyone she met. Her home was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and encouragement, where every family member felt like they belonged.
Jerri is survived by her devoted daughters, Vicki Adams, Evelyn Gipson, and Barbara Jewell. Her family tree blossomed under her nurturing care, with grandchildren Steven Gipson, Rebecca Allen, Nicole (Andrew) Ducker, Dale (Nikki) Adams Jr., and Kisha Simpson carrying forth her spirit. She was also proud of her great-grandchildren, Devyn Couch, Skyler Couch, Kennedy Ducker, Victoria Adams, and Raelynn Myers, alongside her great-great-grandchildren, Travis Adams, Jaidan Adams, and Jordon Adams, all of whom brought her immense joy and purpose.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Claude Raisor and Bertha Hall Raisor; her endearing husband, Orville Franklin Jewell Sr.; her son, Orville Jewell Jr.; her cherished son-in-law, Dale Adams; her sisters, Marilyn Wooldridge and Mabel Raizor; and her brothers, Claude F. Raisor and Charlie Raisor.
Jerri's impact on the lives of those she loved will endure, much like the warm memories she cultivated throughout her life. Her family will gather to honor her memory with a visitation on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home in Southwest Louisville. She will be laid to rest with family at Big Springs Cemetery, 2043 Taylorsville Rd, Bloomfield, KY.
In celebrating her life, we find solace in the fact that Jerri has now joined her loved ones who have gone before her, reunited in eternal peace and love. Her legacy will live on through her family, a testament to a life devoted to the art of making memories and the beauty of togetherness.
