Jean Carolyn Zarnstorff Battles, 78, passed away on August 2, 2014 after a brief illness. Jean was born in Rochester, NY and moved to Floyds Knobs in 1969. She was a piano teacher to many children and choir director at St Paul's. She was an artist and a musician. She was a sweet lady who never had an unkind thought.

She leaves to cherish her memory husband Bob Battles; children Diane (Jim) Schroeder, Cindy (Sam Pellman) Fischer, and Jim (Nancy) Battles; grandchildren Jennifer Schroeder, Kelly (Scott) Reed, Corey (Jennifer)Schroeder, Rob and Carrie Fischer, Lauren and Bryan Battles; great-grandchildren Rylee, Ethan & Eli Reed; Leon, Lucille & Adele Schroeder and Joey Fischer; brothers David(Cel) and Larry (Anne)Zarnstorff. Preceding her in death were parents Charles and Mae Zarnstorff, brother Curly Zarnstorff and grandson Andrew Fischer.

Visitation will be Friday, August 8 from 6 to 8 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish House 1015 E. Main St, New Albany. The funeral will be at the church on Saturday, August 9 at 10:30 AM. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the church music fund.
