Janice Craig Dishon

Janice Craig Dishon (b. Janice Alvenia Craig), 83, of Prospect died at Norton Brownsboro Hospital under Hosparus care on November 18, 2023. She was born November 24, 1939 in Covington, Kentucky.

Janice was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Craig (Hodge) her father, William Fayette Craig, and her husband, James William Dishon. Janice is survived by her sister, Joyce Garner, and her family.

Janice married James Dishon in 1957, and completed her education in Home Economics at University of Louisville after attending UK and Peabody. She attended immersion classes at Berlitz Language School in Cincinnati for Portuguese with her husband before moving abroad. They lived in Rio de Janeiro, Chicago, San Francisco and Half Moon Bay CA, Sublimity OR, and Reno NV. After her husband's death, she moved to Louisville, and finally to Prospect.

While her husband studied for his Masters in Business Administration, Janice was a social worker on Chicago's South Side where she taught household management skills. She contributed a humorous piece to the Chicago Tribune about life as a homemaker in a Chicago high rise. Her favorite job was as a research assistant for Chef Louis Szathmary, who was known as a chef, writer and public personality and for his distinguished restaurant The Bakery

Janice retired to the role of homemaker through their many moves after San Francisco. She loved her companion animals: a bird, cats and dogs. She loved talk radio, and collecting and displaying art and ceramics in her home.

She will be laid to rest with her husband in Reno, NV. The family will hold a private memorial service.
