Janet Ann Hoagland Tucker, age 48, went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 16, 2013. She passed away at Audubon Hospital. Janet is survived by two beautiful daughters Jennifer Ann Tucker and Lyndzie Nichole Tucker. She has one surviving grandson, Cameron Mace Bush. Also surviving are her mother Ann Friend Newton, her father Edward Lindsey Hoagland, her brothers John Demus Hoagland and Scott Edward Hoagland and her sisters Mary Beth Hoagland Khamis and Sara Jane Hoagland Harpole.
Janet's parents are native to Louisville. Janet was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jane Greene and Robert Hoagland and by her maternal grandparents, Demus Friend and Maxine Doty Friend.
Janet was born in Louisville, KY on November 23, 1964 with her twin brother John. Janet went to Portland Christian School and to Atherton High School. She was a star softball player for the Rebels and for league softball. She graduated in 1983. Janet also attended Louisville Technical Institute and worked for Phillip Morris.
Janet's most recent work was as a Code Enforcement Officer for the Louisville Metropolitan Department of Inspections, Permits & Licenses. Janet took great pride in working for IPL. She was able to do difficult work while extending mercy. Janet had the distinctive ability to be tough and loving. She was courageous and strong, but dealt tenderly with those in need. She is known for her giving spirit and sacrificial acts of kindness to strangers, the lonely and the needy.
Janet had a green thumb and loved to work on her plants, flowers and most importantly her cacti, some of which grew as tall as her house. She enjoyed artistic hobbies and crafts including painting, sewing, making dolls and more. She loved to treasure hunt, collect pigs, sing and spend time with her little dogs, Dinkie and Bitty.
Most of all, Janet had a sweet and loving spirit. This was unmistakable in her smile and unapologetic laughter and in her love toward her daughters and grandson. She was a member of the Valley View Church. Janet will be missed by so many.
Janet's funeral and visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home East Louisville, 235 Juneau Dr., Louisville, KY 40243. Visitation hours are Monday, October 21, 5–8 PM. The funeral service is Tuesday October 22 at 11 AM. The burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park on Bardstown Rd.
