Janet R. Jackson

Janet R. Jackson, 85, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, July 9, 2022. She was born in Milltown, Indiana, on January 14, 1937, to the late John "Pank" Franklin Briscoe and Mona (Seacat) Briscoe. Janet married the love of her life, Grover "Sonny" Jackson, to whom she was married to for over 40 years before his passing in 1994. Janet and Sonny raised three beautiful daughters together, Holly, Cindy, and Penny. She was the picture of family life, a devoted wife and mother, and beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to so many who loved her. Janet had a passion for cooking, arts and crafts, and gardening. Her overwhelming generosity, kindness, sense of humor, wit, and love for life made the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her better for it.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Grover; her parents, John and Mona; her grandson, Perry Overton; and her sister, Sonna Lu Belles (Paul).

Janet is survived by her three daughters, Holly Overton (Richard), Cindy Jackson, and Penny Kahl; three grandchildren, Jessica (Overton) Lewis (Mike), Dakota Jackson, and Kendall Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Kenzie Lewis, Ramsey Davis, Ava Overton, and Barrett Overton; two brothers, Mark Briscoe (Martha) and Michael Briscoe (Melanne); sisters-in-law, Nellie Brooks and Linda Jackson; sister-in-law of 28 years, Evelyn Saccoccio-Briscoe; and countless nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the Endris Lodge, located at 2404 Greentree N, Clarksville, IN 47129 (located inside Lapping Park) from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022.
