James Edsel Tyler, 84, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014. He taught and coached for many years at various schools throughout the area and was particularly passionate about coaching basketball. Edsel was an avid IU fan, enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Georgetown Christian Church. He was always outgoing and fun to be around.
Edsel was born on March 3, 1930 in English, Indiana to the late Chester and Garnet (Longest) Tyler. He is survived by his sons, Roebin Tyler (Rose), Jamie Tyler (Carol); brothers, Dean Tyler (Imo), Joe Tyler; grandchildren, Ashby Tyler (Faith), Adam Tyler (Carrie), Rochelle Beard (Ryan), and Rebekah Tyler.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 9:30 AM at his church. His Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Saturday at Georgetown Christian Church (9420 SR 64, Georgetown, IN 47122). Burial will take place at a later date at English Cemetery.
