James Rudolph Thacker

James R. "Jimmy" Thacker, 92, of Louisville entered into eternal life on Friday, February 17, 2023. His only son, Rudy, was at his side. Jim was born on March 18, 1930 in Louisville to the late Emmett and Reva Thacker. He was a member of Fern Creek Baptist Church. While he had many talents, Jim finished his working life as a spray painter at American Air Filter. He and Rudy enjoyed many hours of hunting and fishing together and he particularly enjoyed summers at Green River with the granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Betty, his two brothers Emmett Jr. and William and his sister Dorothy.

Jim was a loving father to Rudy E. Thacker (Donna); devoted Pepaw to Michelle Thacker (Ray), Tiffany Browning (Mike), Kristin Angelini (Ernest), Amy Alvey (Sean); and great grandfather to Camden, Layla, Olivia, Greyson, C.J., and Violet. He was a special uncle to Linda Epley and Judy Case. He is also survived by several other extended family members.

Visitation will be 10:30am to 12:30pm at Fern Creek Baptist Church 5920 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY 40291. A celebration of Jim's life will follow at 12:30pm there, with burial to follow in Elk Creek Cemetery.
