James William Shultz, 87, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1935, in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, to the late W.A. and Frances Aleath (Stevens) Shultz. His family moved from Kentucky to Indiana when he was 6 years old. Jim attended Prather Grade School and graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1954. Jim retired from Henry Vogt Machine Company after 39 years. After retiring, he worked at the Jay C Store in Floyds Knobs for 15 years. He spent many years babysitting grandkids and had a large garden. He gave friends and family fresh vegetables from his Greenville garden. He took great pride in giving to others. On June 18, 1954, he married Dorothy Tevis at the New Chapel Church in Jeffersonville, and they were married 67 years until her passing. They moved to Greenville on June 11, 1968.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Shultz; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Thomas Tevis.
Jim is survived by his loving daughter, Rita Young (Roger); son, Brian Shultz; 5 grandchildren, Brian Thomas Shultz, Cameron Michael Shultz (Courtney), Mariah Elizabeth Shultz, Jason Young, and Brandy Kincaid (Jamie); 5 great-grandchildren, Autumn, Bella, Bobbie, Braxton, and Emma Grace; and sister, Nellie Taff.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
