James Lynel Sanders, born on May 8, 1940, in Horse Cave, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on June 15, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 84.
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert Kermit and Marie Sanders, his brothers, Robert, Roger, Ralph, and Larry Sanders.
Jim was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his seven beloved children: his five sons, Elvis (married to Christi), Earl (married to Tracy), Terry, Scott, and Chris (married to Rebecca); and his two daughters, Amy Johnson (married to Mark) and Jamie Lemak (married to Craig). He is also survived by his sisters Sue (Ed) Anderson and Linda (Jesse) Wilkerson. Jim was the proud grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather to numerous grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
Jim dedicated 38 years of his life to TARC, where he worked with unwavering diligence and commitment until his retirement. Known for his hardworking nature, Jim was a man of integrity and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His love for his family was profound and unwavering, and he was a constant source of support and encouragement to those around him. Jim was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds.
Above all, Jim was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in all his endeavors and interactions. He was an active and cherished member of Greater Life Apostolic Church, where he found great joy and fellowship.
James Lynel Sanders will be remembered for his loving spirit, his dedication to his family, and his steadfast faith. His legacy of love, faith, and hard work will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Services to honor and celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 12:00 PM EST on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Newcomer, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY). The family will receive friends that morning at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the service time. Burial will follow that afternoon at 2:00 PM CST at Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery in Horse Cave, KY.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wounded Warriors Project in his memory.
