James Albert Purcell

December 14, 1945 — September 28, 2024

Sellersburg, Indiana

James Albert Purcell, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born at his home on December 14, 1945, in Valley Station, Kentucky. After a life filled with cherished memories, he peacefully departed this world on September 28, 2024, in Sellersburg, Indiana.

Jimmy's career spanned many years as a crane operator at Derby City Recycling. A man of many interests, Jimmy had a profound affection for music. He was often found at home playing his keyboard and delighting in karaoke sessions that brought joy to both him and those around him. His laughter echoed through the air as he sang along to his favorite tunes, creating an atmosphere of happiness and warmth. In addition to his musical talents, he found great pleasure in fishing, relishing the quiet moments spent outdoors. His beloved dog, Princess, was a constant companion, bringing comfort and joy to his everyday life.

Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Linda Purcell; his children, James Purcell and Deborah Jolley; his step-daughter, Teresa Carroll; his sister, Wanda Sullivan; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Purcell and Mary Dunn Purcell; as well as his children, Pamela House, John Purcell, and Cindy Burdette; and his siblings, Carol Howard and Robert Purcell.

Jimmy's spirit lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever hold dear the moments shared and the music sung.
