James Woodrow "Woody" Pinkston, born on August 3, 1954, in Alabama, departed this world on January 23, 2025, at the age of 70. His life was a vibrant tapestry, woven with laughter, artistry, and cherished memories that touched the hearts of everyone he encountered.
Woody was a man of style; he was always well put together, earning the admiration of many for his keen sense of fashion. Yet, it was not just his appearance that garnered attention—he was a charismatic presence who never met a stranger. With an infectious smile and a repertoire of "Dad" jokes, he brought joy and laughter to gatherings, proving time and again that humor is one of life's great treasures.
A true "ladies' man," Woody possessed an undeniable charm that captivated those around him. He often referred to himself as a "Cowboy Baby," embracing the spirit of adventure and individuality that defined him. His fondness for life's simple pleasures—a good meal by the pond, the thrill of fishing, and the soothing strums of his guitar—were hallmarks of a man who appreciated every moment.
Having moved to Louisville at a young age, he poured his heart into his new life, working diligently while instilling the values of hard work and perseverance in his family. His most proud accomplishments were not found in accolades or awards but in the love and legacy he created through his daughter and grandchildren. They were the true jewels in his crown, and he dedicated his life to nurturing their spirits and dreams.
Woody was not just a father but a best friend to many, embodying loyalty and warmth that drew people close. His artistic talents flourished as he painted the world in colors only he could see, leaving a mark that will linger long after his passing.
He will be remembered fondly during visitation services on February 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on February 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272.
