James Perry, Jr.

James Perry, Jr, 66, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away in Norton Hospary, Louisville, Kentucky at 7:47 pm on April 10, 2021. He was born on December 23, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to the late James Perry, Sr. and Louise Maye Perry. James was a member of the United States Navy in Vietnam. He retired as a Groomer from Church Hills Downs Race Track after a lengthy service. He enjoyed watching TV, playing cards, eating lots of meat, and talking on the phone daily with his mother. James also liked joking, laughing, and enjoying the many meals prepared by his good friend Betty Stewart. He had a great sense of humor that will be missed by everyone that knew him.

In addition to his beloved father, James is preceded in death by his beloved brother, Leon Perry of Chicago, Illinois and his beloved cousin Ruthie Mae Sims of St Louis, Missouri.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother Louise Reaves of St Louis, Missouri; his sisters Dorothy Perry of St Louis, Missouri and Ernestine Chris Jackson of Aurora, Illinois; two children, James Perry, III of Broadview, Illinois and Angela Perry of Chicago, Illinois; his long-time best friends Betty and Ike Stewart of Louisville, Kentucky, one 98 year old aunt, one 90 year old uncle and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A private celebration of James' life took place on Friday, April 16, 2021. at Newcomer Cremations Funerals & Receptions, Louisville, Kentucky. Internment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James' honor c/o Ernestine Chris Jackson, Illinois State Credit Union, 1309 South Center Street, Normal, Illinois 61761.
