James Theodore "Teddy" Nigh, was born on June 5, 1970 in Louisville, Kentucky to parents Judith L Nigh (Johnson) and Jerry Ray Nigh, has passed from this Earth and into Heaven on July 6, 2023.
He lived in Louisville, KY in St. Mathews but he had previously lived in Houston, TX for many years also.
He is survived by his mother, Judi, and two brothers, Chris Nigh (Jazmine) and Toby Nigh. He is also survived by nieces Kaylan Nigh, Jana Ramos, Elianna Nigh, and Annabelle Nigh, nephew Jeremiah Nigh, as well as a large extended family. He worked various jobs including restaurants and bars in Louisville, but spent most of his career brokering electricity in Houston. In addition to being survived by his family, Teddy is survived by many friends to whom he would consider just as much family, including but not limited to Boog Hampton, Shannon Duff, Billy Guest, Brad Branham, Teresa and Aaron Riehl, Craig Chaney as well as many others.
Teddy thrived on making friends and would meet people everywhere he went. He met them through work, in bars, on airplanes, through family, playing poker, and in designated smoking areas and places unknown. He had a way of disarming people and breaking through their guard in record time. He got invited to, and attended, more weddings than just about anyone outside of the wedding industry. He had many circles of friends from endeavors such as sand volleyball, softball, basketball, church, work, the Derby, ice rinks, Golden Tee, and his most recent passion, golf. He thrived on having a good time and for others to have a good time. He would go out of his way to be there for the people he loved.
He will be missed for years to come but will live on in many memories and he'll be revered in the stories about him. He was known for catch phrases such as "my brother from another mother", "hey Mama", and "nectar of the gods", for movie quotes that lasted a little too long, for crushing a golf ball off the tee, and for a sweet jump shot and a great handle. At the end Teddy rekindled his relationship with Jesus Christ and had planned on attending Hikes Point Christian Church when he got out of the hospital. There is no doubt you can see him again in Heaven and he'd want you to do what it took to get there. He will have a tee time ready and a fun foursome to greet you.
Come celebrate Teddy with us at Hikes Point Christian Church, 2601 Hikes Lane in Louisville, KY 40218 on Saturday July 15th at 1:00 pm. There is a Party for him after at Moose Lodge 5 on Fegenbush Lane at 3 pm. He would want all to be there and have a good time. The party will continue at The Blind Sqirrel in Middletown, KY.
