James Glen Nacke

James "Jim" Glen Nacke, 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

He was born on December 9, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to Foley Nacke and Dorothy Winona Miller. He is preceded in death by son David Nacke (Susan).

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith Pierce Nacke and children, Misty Tyler Smith (Willard), Michael Wayne (Kathleen). He was Bimba to his grandchildren, Stephen Tyler (Amanda), Jeremy Tyler (Amber), Alex Smith, Andrew Nacke (Emmalynn), and Haley Nacke, and great-grandchildren, Connor Tyler, Kyndall Tyler, and Nicole Kessinger. He is survived by his siblings, Lana Davis and Kim Sutherland.

A loving and caring father, Jim worked hard and retired from Marathon Petroleum after 31 years as a lab technician. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and his passion brought him to volunteer for Kentucky Fish and Wildlife. He helped write the Hunter Safety Program and taught these classes for many years. He was active within the Kentucky Bluegrass Games and led the outdoor archery program.

After his retirement, he became very active in his church, Beechland Baptist Church. He served on the Benevolence Committee for over a decade. While there he served the community by helping to start the school food program with Kentucky Harvest in 2012 and was in charge until 2020. He was active with Southwest Christian Ministries.

Jim was an exceptional story teller, who loved his family, loved animals, and loved to help others whenever possible. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, at Beechland Baptist Church (4613 Greenwood Rd. Louisville, KY 40258). The private burial will be at a later date.

The family requests that contributions in James's memory be made to Alzheimer's Association.
