James Earl McCorkle

On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the world lost a light with the passing of James Earl McCorkle at the age of 19 in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on July 25, 2004, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, James brought joy and warmth to all those around him.

James is survived by his loving mom Rita Douglas, siblings Nathan Douglas, Jonathan (Amanda) McCorkle, Trenton McCorkle, Travis (Justice) McCorkle, grandparents Sherry and Gary Douglas, and Debbie and Roger McCorkle. He is also survived by uncle Jerry (Tiffany) Douglas Jr., cousins Kandalyn Douglas, Ayden Douglas, Dominque (Selena) Hayes, nieces and nephew, Bella Higdon, Melody McCorkle, Jayden McCorkle, Travis McCorkle Jr., Grady McCorkle and Adriana McCorkle. He is also survived by his father, Dale McCorkle. 

In the embrace of eternity before James were his grandfather Jerry Douglas Sr. and girlfriend Kayle Newton; they await a joyous reunion.

A member of the Shively Baptist Church, James possessed a captivating personality that drew people towards him effortlessly. He was known for his humor, kindness, and innate ability to make everyone feel at ease in his presence. Whether engaging in video games or hitting the gym for a workout session - James cherished these moments as he bonded with family and friends. Above all activities he enjoyed spending quality time with his mom - an unbreakable bond they shared.

Those who wish to pay their last respects may do so at the visitation scheduled from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 21st at Newcomer Cremations Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). A memorial service honoring James' life will follow at 5:00 pm on Sunday at the same location.
