James Blake McCallion, 68, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. James loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and was very involved in coaching and being an umpire for youth sports. James was known for his love of cooking and gardening. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He was born on June 30, 1954, in Pittsfield, Maine, to the late John McCallion and Margaret (Shaw) Starbird. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandchild, Brantley McCallion; sister, Paulette Stoddard; and uncle, Gayle Reed.
James is survived by his children, James McCallion, Jr., Heather (Benjamin) Alvarado, Kari (Nathan) Hamby, Luke (Leigh) McCallion, and Ryan McCallion; grandchildren, Chloe Brown, Alexis Brown, Leland Hamby, Laylah Hamby, Nolan McCallion, Annsley McCallion, and Hadyn McCallion; and great-grandchild, Huxtyn Brown; brothers, Ralph (Jean) Starbird, Rodney (Kay) Starbird, and Steve (Sandy) Capps; uncle, Ed (Faye) Starbird; aunt, Gean Reed; nephews, Christopher Starbird and Tyler Capps; niece, Missie (Darren) Munford; and many other extended family members.
Cremation was chosen following James's wishes. He will be laid to rest at New Albany National Cemetery at a later date.
