James Richard Langford

James Richard "Jim" Langford, 88, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023. He was a United States Army veteran that served his country faithfully. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman that loved the outdoors and enjoyed searching for mushrooms and ginseng. He liked working with his hands through woodworking and was capable of fixing anything.

He also had a passion for music and looked forward to playing his guitar at family gatherings. Family always came first for Jim, and spending time with them was one of his favorite pastimes.

Jim was born on December 15, 1934 in Byrneville, Indiana to Clifford and Edith (Byrn) Langford. Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Dale Langford; and sisters, Jean Brown, Freida "Tuny" Hartman and Mary "Micky" Huffman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elfie (Bayer) Langford; sons, Eric Langford (Renee), Kyle Langford (Chantal); and was blessed with nine grandchildren. Marielle, Dominic, Tahlia, Steffano, Leilani, Valen, Jericho, Abbigail, Brent; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim's wish was to be cremated and he will be laid to rest at New Albany National Cemetery (1943 Ekin Avenue, New Albany). Contributions in his memory may be made to Hosparus - the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana (502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, IN 47150).
