James Rodney Kane, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, June 16th, 2012, at the age of 71.
James is lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Judy (Froedge) Kane of Jeffersonville, Indiana; sons, Mark (Joanna), Kevin and Jonathan (Brianna); grandchildren, Brenden, Ashlyn and Alexander; brothers, John (Patty), Eddie (Sue); sister, Ginger (Leon) Riggs; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. James was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Margaret Kane Akers.
James was born in Pinsonfork, Kentucky in 1941 to John and Maysie (Runyon) Kane. He graduated from Belfry High School in 1959. James proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Seoul Korea in 1963. He was a retiree from the Ford Motor Company after 36 years of service. James was a true Kentucky boy at heart. He loved his Kentucky Wildcats and always rooted for his hometown Pirates. He enjoyed writing poems, traveling with JuJu, spending time with his family and telling stories about his childhood that he spent down in the holler at Pond Creek. James never met a stranger and always introduced himself as an "Ole Kentucky Hillbilly."
His Visitation will be 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. There will be no burial following the service. Cremation was chosen following the wishes of James.
