James "Jim" Clifford Smith, 77, of Louisville, passed away on April 11, 2023. He was born in Louisville, KY, on March 4, 1946. Jim, along with his wife Linda, was a devoted member of Middletown Christian Church. He graduated from DeSales High School in 1964 and retired from Ford Motor Company after 36 years spending some years in Louisville, St. Louis, MO, and Birmingham, AL.
Jim enjoyed playing numerous sports throughout his life, bowling, fishing, and golfing with his buddies. He especially loved golfing with his brother Sonny. He coached his boys in basketball at St. Edward Catholic Church. He also spent many years camping at Bailey's Point on Barren River Lake. Jim was known by his friends and family to be a "sharp-dressed man" and enjoyed sharing a good glass of bourbon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, a sister, and brother-in-law.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Bishop) Smith of 27 years (after a very lengthy courtship); sons JC (Nicole) and Jeff (Paula); grandchildren, Megan, Clayton, and Jaleah Smith, Zack and Maggie Ernst, and Luca and Shae James; great grand-daughter Madison Yates; sisters Cheryl Livers, Susan McGill, and brother Sonny Smith (Sherry); and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 P.M. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive). A celebration of Life will be the following day at 3 P.M. at Middletown Christian Church (500 N Watterson Trail).
