James C. Decker of Corydon Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday surrounded by family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father James Ogilvy Decker, mother Bernice Daniel Decker Morgan, stepfather Bob Morgan, and niece Kim Provost.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kay. Kay and Jim were a couple made for each other from the start. They completed each other in every way. "Even the bad times were good".
Jim is also survived by his brother, Joe Decker, Joe's wife Darla and their son Alan, his stepbrothers Freddy and Byron Morgan, his niece Misty Wheatley and her husband Jeremie. To Kay and Jim, Misty was more of a daughter than a niece. Jim is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bruce and Donna Hadley, Denise Spratt, Brenda and Herbie Neal, and Jay Miller. Jim also leaves behind nieces and nephews Lance, Dean, Darain, Derrick, Amber, Amanda, Lana, Eli, Kristina and Jayson, along with their spouses. Jim also had many great nieces and nephews including Kaylee and Jacob Wheatley, who were like grandchildren to Kay and Jim.
Jim was a long-time employee of Jefferson County School Board working as a mechanic and retiring in 2007. After a few years he started his "retirement job" at John Jones in Corydon. Jim also worked as a mechanic out of his house with Rob Wooten, who was the son he never had.
Jim was an avid Harley rider and lover of NASCAR. He loved going to any kind of race with his family, especially his brother-in-law Bruce and nephew Lance who were also his best friends.
The family would also like to thank the staff of Hosparus of Southern Indiana for their guidance and support in Jim's final days.
Jim's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
