James "Jim" W. Black, Jr., 66, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing, bow hunting and trapping. He was a Louisville Cardinal fan and a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers. Jim was a NASCAR enthusiast. He proudly served his country in the US Army and graduated from the Jefferson County Police Academy in 1977. During his military career, Jim lived abroad with his family in several regions including Shape, Belgium, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Louisville, Kentucky. Jim will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He was born on March 23, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky to Patricia Crum. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann Crum; father, Kenneth Crum, Sr.; and brother, Timothy Michael Black.
Jim is survived by his loving family, Melissa Klarke Black; children, Cory (Tyson Carpenter) Black, Tim Black, Gill (Renn) Cain; grandchildren, Andrew Black; Addison Braden; Renny Cain, Alissa Cain; great-grandson, Braxton Black; brother, Kenneth Crum, Jr.; sister, Cathy Crum; special aunt, Lynn Howlett; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, with burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky .
