James Douglas "Dougie" Horne, Sr. passed away on May 23, 2023. He was born in Louisville, KY to Linda K. Hamilton and James D. Horne on March 9, 1970. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at Heritage International Christian Church in Radcliff, KY, where he was baptized and remained a faithful member. In Dougie's younger years, he play baseball for Rockford Lane youth baseball team (Tigers) and received numerous awards and trophies for his talented athleticism. He met his high school sweetheart, Alisa Galloway, in the 80's and graduated from Jeffersontown High School in 1990. Dougie attended college majoring in marketing and took a locksmith course.
Due to his entrepreneurial spirit, Dougie's passion was being his own boss. He used those talents and his experiences with Legal Shield and also created his own apparel brand, Trendystylez.
His 31 year battle with Muscular Dystrophy, became aggressive in 1992, but being the trooper that he was, Dougie turned his condition into a super power. He never let anything he faced stop him from the things he loved to do. He loved going fishing, playing chess and cards. Dougie was an avid Dallas Cowboy's and UofL Cardinal's fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Douglas Horne; mother, Linda Kay Hamilton; sister, LaTonja Corcoran; grandmother, Margaret Rupe and grandfather, Garlester Horne.
Dougie leaves to cherish his memories, his finance', Alisa Galloway; children, James Douglas Horne, Jr., Je'Londa Horne, Tavis Beamus and Aaron Beamus; grandchildren, Jae'Leah Sanders, Auzra Dawson, Milani Dawson, Nivar Dawson, Javonni Stafford, Selena Beamus, Skylar Beamus, Ariana Beamus and Tavis Beamus, Jr.; siblings, Margaret Danielle Pullen, Michael S. Hamilton, Michelle Hamilton, Regina Carr, Oliver Payton, Lamont Crowder, Kimberly Horne-Williams, Monique Sweat and Shontelle Gibson-Deberry and a host of nieces nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, June 2, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 11am-1pm with a celebration of Dougie's life beginning at 1pm.
Dougie will be laid to rest at Green Meadows Cemetery, 3800 Shanks Lane, Louisville, KY.
