James J. Gilpin

January 13, 1940 — January 12, 2024

James J. Gilpin, 83, of Ramsey, Indiana, shed his earthly prison that he faced with much strength, courage, determination and stubbornness, and returned to his Heavenly Father on January 12, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henley Gilpin (Mary), Lillian Harris (Bill); brother, John; and sisters, Jessie "Patsy," Sally and infant, Charlotte.

Jim was a proud father who loved his children fiercely. He was a hard worker and possessed many talents. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Robert, Laurie Anne (Stephen), Eric (Sarah). He was papa to grandchildren, Michael (Heather), Matthew; eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many adopted pets and wildlife creatures.

Jim's wish was to be cremated and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with his care. A celebration of his life will be held privately. The family would like to thank Dr. William Hoke (the only physician that would take the time to listen to him), Amedysis Hospice (above and beyond compassionate care) and nurse, Mark Wiseman (excellent support, comfort and incredible patience).

Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to your favorite veteran, children or animal organization. Also, please consider becoming an organ donor.

Please consider sharing a memory of Jim or leaving a special message for his family by completing the "Share Memories" section below.
