James E. French, 67, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018. He was a United States Army veteran that proudly served his country during Vietnam. Jim worked as a diesel mechanic and enjoyed bowling, as well as hunting and fishing.
He was born on August 20, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Carl and Beulah (Jenkins) French. Jim was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred French; and sister, Rita Martin.
Jim is survived by his sister, Carol Melander; brother, Joseph "Bill" Brown, Jr.; nephew and caretaker, John Melander; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen following Jim's wishes, and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with his care. Jim will be laid to rest privately with military honors at New Albany National Cemetery.
