James Ellis Ford

James Ellis Ford, 72, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. James was a loving and devoted husband, father, and brother. James was a man of deep faith and had a strong relationship with the Lord. He enjoyed spending time playing golf, cards, and making others laugh with his jokes. James enjoyed spending time with his family and hosted a remarkable Fourth of July party every year. He retired as a register nurse after thirty-one years of service at Jewish Hospital. James will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on October 13, 1951 in Los Angeles, California to Samuel and Elizabeth (Jones) Ford. He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Anita Ford; father, Samuel Ford; and siblings, Eugene Francis Ford, Samuel Ford, III, and Anita Maria Ford.

James is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Shawn Ford; daughter, Lacy Ford; siblings, Lemerel Ford, Jewel Smotherland, Dorothy Ann Ford, Norman Lewis Ford, Arnetta Ford-Puryear, Charles Robert (Martha) Ford, Lita Yvonne Ford-Ward, Larry Leon Ford, Janice Maye Ford-Pickett, Joyce Carol Ford, Don Alfred Ford, Phyllis Jean Ford-Newbolt, Naomi Ruth Ford-Satterfield; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel.
